IMG_9621  i love this pic. like the blurriness it has... gives it  a more dreamy feel while looking up this big tree. :)

turning 23

i've got a new lens. finally committed myself to buying one after 2 years. i conclude that photography is a hobby that forces you to commit to because of the required investment. the more you read/learn about it, the more obligated you are to but more really expensive stuff.

i got myself a sales job at some laptop roadshow this weekend. i just walked into the shop and asked whether they were recruiting for the pc show and voila. haha. i guess i just wanted to do some form of work.

Just had dinner with my parents at The Cliff. ambience was great.. food was enjoyable but not like "WOW". i guess the menu this week was swiss.. and the swiss don't really excel in fine dining in terms of variety in general. but i enjoyed it nonetheless. Well.. service was great.. was glad they didn't give me some giant slice of cake and sing the birthday song. it was a nice little chocolate mousse-ish cake with mint leaves :) people there dress really nice..probably cuz it's mainly tourists and they do pride in dressing well for dinners.. especially in comparison to singaporeans. so it was a nice touch of class to the place :)

surrogate bf RAWKS. i got my prezzie from him through mail - a wooden plank with my name and a figure of a girl doing a latin pose drawn on it. when i saw the latin pose, couldn't help but laugh. i love simple, thoughtful gifts. Anyway, surrogate just sent the first bday sms (on the actual day), still waiting for actual bf to send. hee. see how long he takes to send considering that he's busy playing risk with his friends right now. heh.

celebrating with bf 'tmr'. hope it will be nice.

sick

I have my first interview this coming Tuesday and I feel ill prepared for it. I fell pretty sick yesterday (suddenly just came crashing down) and had to forgo my big plans to club with a person that I've been hoping to club with for a long long time. Now.. as I browse through the job scope and the company website for the upcoming interview.. I'm kinda getting cold feet. I really dunno whether is this what i want.. do i want to make this my career? People ask me what do I want to do... and I don't know. I tell myself that I'm open to many options.. HR, events, hospitality, marketing, shipping...but am I really? I have no idea what suits me.. or what I am capable of. Am I a dynamic sort of person (events) or will I just be satisfied sitting in the office doing mundane work (HR admin)? There are so many types of jobs out there.. so which is me?

Windows Live Writer

just trying out this new thing i installed...P4040198

looks pretty cool for now :)

my first good union experience in a long long while..

i danced! with more than one guy that isn't my bf! lol.
yeah.. for the first time in my salsa life, i actually danced with more than 6,7 guys? i dunno. lol. well. .for the first time i have difficulty counting?

it was great.. thank god i didn't make THAT many mistakes.
i guess the difference this time was that the music was pretty nice... like how i imagine latin music to be like.. more exciting and more emo too. :)

night ended of with supper with bunch of my fav caderas peeps and some new peeps too.. so it was really cool.

the only sad thing now is that my dad forgot to bypass one of the doors for me and i triggered the house alarm when i got home... waking both my parents up. *sigh*. just hope they managed to go back to sleep so i wouldn't get banned from going out late on a weekday night again. *prays*

urgh. guess what. mummy just walked into my room and scolded me. she can't go back to sleep. f*ck.

dinner at seletar camp

just some random pics that i had in my camera phone... the following pics were taken at seletar camp/airport, near our dinner place. it's nothing like damsey despite the whole ex-army camp and dinner idea. currently it's still pretty much in its raw state and i love it like that. :)

An old plane! haha. digressing a little.. a tshirt that i technically can't use anymore! haha. somehow managed to get my uncle (working in the textile industry) to give me this victoria secrets top! lol!

loving mum and dad :)

how often can one find a place that is sooo flat and devoid of buildings in singapore! :) in the field behind all the cars are 'parked' aeroplanes. (see below)

dinner place. food's not great though.. unless you like ultra spicy buffalo wings. but i guess the environment makes it unique and hence it was almost fully booked by 6pm!

graduation...

exams are finally over!!
... which means.. i've graduated!
sometimes it feels like just another day.. yet sometimes i know it might mean quite a bit more. first of all.. i've joined the ranks of the unemployed. haha. and i'll probably be spending my next week mass writing cover letters again. sulk. and when i look back, i remember those days when i think of graduation as the day i get my freedom. for e.g. the chance to be able to travel with my friends etc etc. everytime when my friends ask me for a trip, i'll say i can't cuz i'm not allowed, and that it's only possible after i graduate! Whether this freedom thing is true.. is another issue altogether...

i know i haven't blogged in a long long while. reason being a) no mood. haha. b) i forgot my password! gave up trying to figure it out and decided to just reset it. technically.. i had a lot of things i wanted to blog about since my last entry.. my wonderful and funny vday, bailamos (our performance - mambo- was alright.. lots of little errors but nonetheless an acheivement for me considering how it is like my first full routine in caderas...how great the senior girls were and i am glad i was able to kinda work with them for the last time.. proud of caderas as a whole), strat bpg successfully coming up tops (phew!), bf getting a job.. and quitting, my bangkok trip in week 11 and shopping like never before, bitching about studying for malayu under my incorrigible prof etc etc.

exams were alright as a whole..i've got such weird profs this sem. scm - prof pretty much copied all the qns from the 'discussion qns' in the textbook and malay, well.. my prof just used one of our worksheets as our exam paper. dots. am hoping to do decently this sem.. hopefully *crosses fingers*, get my first A? haha. yeah.. i know.. i very lousy.

After exam celebration was going shopping with bf.. bought a pair of expensive but damn comfy pair of shoes and had dinner at raffles hotel with parents. so guai right? haha. tt's cuz bf abandoned me for harry's and zouk! :P

well.. have to start planning what i'm going to do while i'm 'unemployed' and not involved in dance and have no grad trip. sigh. hopefully it will still be enjoyable. :) looking forward to meet everybody.. haha. need to find the $$ to do so though. broke :(

on my mind now:
i want alcohol
i want freedom
i want to be happy
i want a job
what shall i do this week?

a beautiful day

Well.. as some of you already know, my bf got his new toy: a nikon dslr + a super zoom lens + tripod, at the recent IT fair... hence.. we decided to go up this hill around his estate to take shots! it's really amazing how much more you can take with a 55-200mm lens and a tripod... so fun! haha. i was obviously just fooling around and could not stop looking at the clouds. I can stare at them for really really long.. i love them! haha.. anyways, enjoy!

see those peach looking blocks! that's where bf stays!

5 sec timer, grassy patch, super zoom lens = rush rush rush! (i know... we're being silly)

say hi to ice cream and germy :) my portable companions. haha.

15 march 2007

exactly one year ago, about this time, i was onboard a plane that was getting ready to take off: destination Zurich. I can still almost remember the thoughts and emotions that were going through me then.. cuz it was such a significiant event for me. the emotional tension from the last few days, the worries, the fear, the excitment.... and of course, it was also a special day.

i'm glad everything has turned out well. there is no denying how that exchange changed a lot of things for me..for us. and i guess that's why i still hold on to those memories dearly.

on my mind now:

caderas is making it bigggggg :P

Sooo proud of caderas! *beams*
from an article on salsasingapore.sg about the best events worth remembering in 2007:

Caderas Latinas
He/she is: The salsa performance team of Singapore Management University.
Our pick because: We remember the team standing out among their peers at Union Square’s first Tertiary Night last year with their Afrocuban-flavoured routine. The group is also championing Bailamos en la Calle an event coming up in February involving other tertiary institutions to promote salsa and Latin dance. Thumbs-up for the effort and hot babes that had the guys drooling.

Bailamos is in 3 days. it's excitinng yet scary thinking about it.. especially since i'm like so unprepared and still can't do a lot of the moves. very STRESS. sigh. hope i can overcome it during training tmr *prays*

my mother has reiterated many times that i'm to quit dance after this event and prioritize. so i guess it's my last performance ever... really hope it turns out well.

feeling a little jaded. maybe not jaded ..but more like nothin.
i'm back to the point of time where i'm tired of certain stuff again.. like my tolerance for it has gone to an all-time low. how long should my life be ruled?

yet at the same time.. i know there is sense in all these concern and comments. some are valid.. some are just ridiculous. I'm gonna be 23 this year. when does it stop? Does it matter whether i choose to sleep early or not? Why can't I be passionate about something else? Why is dancing wrong?

maybe it's cuz i'm messing up my studies again. i know i am. the mid terms in a couple of days.. yet it's still a mess to me. i honestly dunno what i'm reading.. and to put it in my head in the next couple of days is just impossible. screw grades. it's not that great to begin with anyway.

I just don't seem to be doing anything right again.

Undergrad Boys

the request:
I heard that you guys have meet up for rehearsal last week. I am excited to see the choreo!! There are a few things i will need from your team.

1) The performance music.
2) The name of the performance
3) A short write-up (1-2 paragraph) on the item, coz the emcee need to know something about the item in order to introduce you guys. It can be about the dancers; the meaning behind the dance; the theme of the dance, anything related to the dance or you guys.

the initial response:
the name of the performance.. performance number 2359. (Just because it's an all guy item)
The dancers consist of the papa elephant, mama elephant, sister elephant and brother elephant. (something to do with the song having elephant sounds - i now worry about the choreo) Joining trunks together for the first time, these young thick skinned animals will showcase their extreme creativity by dancing to the lively tunes of untitled_mix1.mp3. This dance seeks to share the spirit of the 'four trunks unity' and spread the need to go green and save the our world from global warming. Based on a true story of cinderella and goldilocks, these 4 long trunks will entertain you and titilate you. Feel free to shout out the names of the trunks when you feel like letting it out. I now present to you, the SOFA KINGS!

Sigh. Lame boyos.
This what happens when you put a group of guys together to dance salsa.
tsk tsk

Photog Workshop + First trip to Chinatown during a CNY period

Being an idle year 4-er, i decided to go for this PhotogWorkshop organised by SMUSAIC last friday and dragged bf along. :) The workshop was about the basics of taking shots of people and it was fun.. thanks to the great company! As you can tell from the below pic, we pretty much spent quite a bit of time fooling around. heh.

Clockwise from top: as Roshni quotes: "DK learns Photography!"; Aaron trying to look big and macho; zm and Aaron er.. being themselves?; Roshni's "I want a DLSR" grin"

After the workshop, Zhimin and I decided to head down to Chinatown to practise what we have learnt! heh. Well.. kind of. We just thought that since it was the CNY period, it was a good opportunity to go down and take a few shots. Zhimin took most of the shots as I was busy getting excited by all the CNY stuff *grins*. Can't blame me lah.. it's a first time experience for me!
As a whole, I think bf took really nice pics that day! So enjoy!

we had an almost 3hr training today... damn tired.. but shiok. the choreo is crazily tiring but it's damn cool! i know the girls are getting a high out of it. my partner just said something nice and not so nice to me just now on msn. heh. nevertheless.. thanks, appreciate it :)
